Built during the Northern Wei dynasty (467-499), Tayuan Temple is the symbol of Mount Wutai with its famous Tibetan-style dagoba "Big White Pagoda." The temple also has the Wenshufa Pagoda, where it is said that Manjusri Bodhisattva's hair is preserved.
