Description

Although established early as in the fifth century during the Northern Wei dynasty (467-499), Foguang Temple is most famous for its major hall, the Great East Hall that was built during the Tang dynasty (618-907). Its well-preserved timber structure was rediscovered my the famous 20C architectural historian Liang Sicheng (1901-1972) and enjoys high research value.
