Lin Fu studied Western painting at the Shanghai Art Academy in 1932 and joined the Communist Youth League of China and the Woodcut Research Society. Lu Xun advocated the modern woodcut movement, of which Lin Fu was one of the pioneers, and his name was included in the history of modern Chinese printmaking.
