Chen, Yanqiao (陳煙橋)  

Alternative names: Chen, Xirong (陳希榮) ; 陳炳奎 ; Li, Wucheng (李霧城) ; 米啟郎

1911-1970

Chinese printmaker, former director of the China Artists Association and deputy to the Third National People's Congress

Chen Yanqiao, student of Lu Xun. He was a member of the Alliance of Left-Wing Artists, devoted himself to the Modern Woodcut Movement. He published the book 'Lu Xun and Woodcutting' which is the first book in China that comprehensively explained Lu Xun's theories on woodcutting. The book was later translated into Russian and attracted widespread attention in the international art world.
