Followed by the World Health Organization’s declaration of a public health emergency of international concern on 31st January 2020 (Beijing time), the COVID-19 pandemic has attracted intense global media attention.
This project is to explore the changing trends in news media coverage of COVID-19 throughout 2020-2021 and examine the biased media coverage.

The Aftermath

Online news was a significant part of the overall media coverage of the pandemic, yet, our results indicate a clear bias towards China in certain features of the CCN’s coverage, this partially triggered massive biased and misleading coverage presented via Western media channels against China in the past two years, impacting on the entire Chinese communities across the world.
